Charlie’s Bar is a quaint beach bar, providing a serene escape from the lively beach scene. Kick back, unwind, and enjoy the coldest 2MG beers in town.

With breathtaking ocean views and a crystal-clear plunge pool, this hidden gem is the perfect place to cool off during the day or gather at sunset to make new friends and become part of the legendary experience that is Charlie’s Bar.

Boat Rides - 45 mins

This boat cruise is a 45 minute boat journey, for 6 or more passengers.  

See Ponta do Ouro from a different angle, the beautiful sand dunes and the protected marine forest coastline, cruise around the point and see where South Africa meets Mozambique, and head in the direction of Ponta Malengane.  

You may see turtles, humpback whales from July to November, and seek marine sea and bird life.  

Diving

The diving here in Mozambique is absolutely phenomenal and a divers paradise.  

The warm waters (the water temperature ranges from 23C in winter to 29C in summer) of the Indian Ocean are teeming with life.

We have over 1200 species of fish as well as manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins, turtles, migrating whales.

The list is endless, the colours of the pristine reefs, beyond description and we even have uncharted reefs if you want to go exploring.

The water temperature varies, ranging from 21 ºC in winter (May to August) with visibility exceeding 25 meters, to 29 ºC in summer with 15 to 20 meters visibility, ensuring exceptional diving conditions throughout the year.

Ponta do Ouro is rated as one of the top shark diving sites in the world, Pinnacles Reef is renowned for incredible shark encounters.

Over the years, we’ve observed some of the ocean’s most breathtaking predators up close.

The special and frequent sightings include Bull (Zambezi) sharks, Hammerheads, Silvertips, Duskies, Blacktips, Leopard sharks, and even Tiger sharks—just a few of the 19 species recorded in the area. Eagle rays, Devil rays, and Manta Rays can also make an appearance, adding even more wonder to the experience.

All divers must present proof of certification prior to first dive and fill out a standard diving indemnity form.

Ponta do Ouro's Premier Dive Camp

As the inaugural dive camp in Ponta do Ouro, we provide comfortable and laid-back accommodations with breathtaking ocean views. Nestled in the scenic Ponta do Oura, Mozambique, Underwater Explorer embodies the essence of beach life, offering a blend of adventure, relaxation, and enjoyment.

Imagine waking up to a spectacular sunrise over the sea, just steps away from the sand.

Seaview Ensuites

Relax and unwind in your Seaview Ensuite, steps from the beach:

Each unit features a double bed, one or two single beds, and an ensuite bathroom with a toilet, wash basin, and large shower. Amenities include fans, refrigerators, coffee stations, and USB charging ports.

Enjoy your private balcony with a sea view. Towels, linen, and mosquito nets are provided; bring your own swimming towels and mosquito repellent.

The Family unit offers two bedrooms, a small cooking station, a fridge/freezer, a coffee station, USB ports, and a dining area. It also has a large balcony overlooking the sea. Towels, linen, mosquito nets, and fans are provided; remember to bring swimming towels and mosquito repellent.

Beach Casitas

Our Beach Casitas provide comfortable accommodations for 2 to 4 guests.

Enjoy shared tiled bathrooms equipped with showers and a communal kitchen, enhancing your rustic experience at Underwater Explorer.

We supply linen and mosquito nets, but kindly remember to bring your own towels. Located just a few steps from the beach, these casitas are ideal for young travelers and backpackers alike.

Furnished Tents

We provide cozy furnished tented accommodations, with some facing the sea and featuring shaded patios, while others are nestled beneath towering trees, offering cool relief on warm summer days.

A lively chill area includes a communal kitchen, a braai space, and a separate boma area, catering to all your social needs. Additionally, dual communal bathrooms are available.

This setup is ideal for young travelers and backpackers.

Self Camping

Our campgrounds are beautifully situated under expansive, shady trees in a tranquil, secluded area near the beach. Each campsite is equipped with electricity and lighting.

We offer three self-catering kitchens that come fully equipped with gas cooktops, microwaves, pots, pans, and cooking utensils—along with magical cleaning elves to assist you!

Each kitchen also features tea and coffee stations. Additionally, you can find free filtered drinking water available for refilling your bottles in every kitchen.

Braai Areas: 

There is one large braai pit area and one large boma area.

We also offer 3 alternate braai areas.

Communal Bathrooms:

5 Communal Bathrooms with hot running water in accessible in each common area, including the dive centre.

Booking Terms and Conditions
Please Note:

Accommodation:                                                    

• This quote/invoice is valid for 48 hours.                                                         
• All reservations require 50% deposit within 48 hours to secure booking of which 25% of the total deposit is non-refundable.                                                           
• Reservations less than 30 days of arrival require payment in full.                                        
• All accommodation bookings must be paid in full 30 days prior to arrival.    
• Postponements are only valid for 1 year of date of postponing and seasonal rates do apply for any and all bookings.                                                         

Activities:                                        

• All activity reservations require 50% deposit within 2 days to secure the booking of which 25% of the deposit is non-refundable.                                                       
• All activity bookings must be paid in full on finalizing booking on arrival.                 
• Credits will only be passed for activities cancelled by Underwater Explorers or due to valid medical reason.                                                            
• Full refunds will be given for activities not possible due to bad weather if it is not safe to launch and cannot be postponed. Rain/clouds/cold weather is not classified as bad weather.       
• No refund for cancellation/postponement of activity, credit vouchers will be issued for activity and are not exchangeable for cash nor transferable.                                                        
• No credits/refunds will be issued for activities on special priced packages/bulk deals not used within the start and end dates of the special or period the offer was booked for.          

Cancellation:                                                            

• All cancellations must be done in writing.                                                      
• Non-payment of deposit for reservations within 48 hours will be cancelled without notice.
• Non-payment of balance due for reservations, by due date 30 days prior to arrival, will be cancelled without notice.                                                 
• Cancellations made within 7 and 14 days before arrival, a cancellation fee of 100% will be charged.                                                        
• Cancellations made within 21 days before arrival, a cancellation fee of 50% will be charged.
• Cancellations made within 30 and 90 days before arrival, a cancellation fee of 25% will be charged.                                                        
• No refund/credit for non-arrival or early departures.
