Thandile Country Lodge, under personal management, features the authentic farmhouse constructed in 1852, meticulously renovated to its original splendor. The lodge offers seven elegantly furnished units in a charming Colonial style, each opening onto the expansive veranda. Most units boast stunning views of the picturesque Waterberg game farm surroundings. Additionally, we offer self-catering cottages named Timbaktu River Cottages for guests seeking a glamping adventure, complete with the convenience of preparing their own meals.

 

We offer breakfast and dinner to guests to the main lodge, the cost of which is additional to the accommodation. 

When a reservation is made for accommodation at the main lodge, guests have the option to book accommodation only, bed-and-breakfast or dinner, bed & breakfast. There are numerous baai facilities for guests who prefer to braai for dinner or alternatively, the dinner,braai package can be ordered per person, on an advanced booking basis. 

The river cottages (The Timbaktu cottages) are completely self-catering with all the facilities on board to cater for all meal preparations

PICNIC

Our picnic lunches are only available to our resident guests and need to be booked 48 hrs prior to arrival.  Relax on our shaded lawn overlooking the dam, while you enjoy freshly baked bread, fresh salads & a glass of sparkling wine/juice.

Romantic Room

Room offers a four poster queen-sized bed, luxury bathroom, bath and shower and closets. Free Wi-Fi. Tea and coffee tray and a bar fridge.

Family Room

This room offers a queen-sized bed with a double luxury sleeper couch for children. En-suite bathroom with luxury bath and shower, closets and entrance opening onto the wrap around veranda. The room sleeps 2 adults and 2 children.

Two Bedroom Unit

Rooms offer queen-sized bed, luxury bathroom, bath and shower and closets. Free WiFi. Tea and coffee tray.

Large Family Unit

This room offers a main bedroom with queen-sized bed, a separate bedroom with 2 single beds and a double sleeper couch for children. Bath/shower bathroom. It has doors opening onto the closets and tea and coffee tray. Suitable for 4 adults and 2 children.

Thandile Country Lodge, located on the original farmstead of Arnot, established in 1852, offers a serene retreat in Bela-Bela. The lodge was born out of the owners' desire to create a peaceful sanctuary to reconnect with family and nature. The name "Thandile" means "I loved it" in Zulu, capturing the emotions felt by visitors. The lodge, opened in 2012, provides a colonial-style accommodation in the historic farm house, maintaining original features. The property, with a rich history dating back to the Boer Oxwagen's trek, offers a tranquil escape with a touch of heritage.

Activities:

  • Guided horse trails…starting at R250 pp for a 1h30 trail
  • During Summer, clients can enjoy swimming with the horses in the lodge's dam for an additional fee of R100 per person.

Mountain Bike Trails:

  • We provide mountain bike trails that span 250 hectares of bushveld. Clients need to bring their own mountain bikes.

Hiking Trails:

  • Explore our hiking trails, adorned with scenic views, covering 250 hectares of bush veld.

Game Viewing:

  • Discover ±200 hectares of game trails at Thandile, featuring giraffes, kudus, impalas, warthogs, baboons, vervet monkeys, blue wildebeests, and other native wildlife.

Bela-Bela Hotsprings:

  • Visit the hot springs of Bela-Bela for a family-friendly day out at Forever Resorts Aventura Warmbaths, just a short drive from Thandile.

Golf 

  • Enjoy a game of golf at the Elements Private Golf reserve, recognised as one of South Afria’s Top 10 Golf Courses, conveniently located 7 km from Thandile Country lodge

Fishing:

  • Enjoy catch-&-release fishing of carb in the dams in front of the restaurant. Day visitors are allowed on a limited basis so advanced booking is essential. Anglers are required to bring their own fishing tackle & bait.

Children Activities:

Engage in activities like horse riding with our attentive staff, table tennis, and meet Olive and Patches, our miniature/potbelly pigs. Witness Kerneels and Mathilda, the resident giraffes, grazing in front of the restaurant.
