Welcome to Schaftplaas, a charming historic farm on the beautiful West Coast, just over an hour from Cape Town and approximately 20 km from Langebaan.
Dating back to the 18th century, Schaftplaas offers a unique blend of rustic farm charm, natural beauty and modern comfort. Since 1993, the Kruger family has lovingly restored and cared for this special property, preserving its rich heritage while creating a welcoming destination for visitors.
The name “Schaft” reflects the farm’s original purpose as a place where travellers could stop, rest and enjoy a meal. Today, that same spirit of warmth and hospitality lives on, inviting guests to slow down, unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Our spacious camping grounds offer the perfect setting for an affordable family holiday, a relaxing weekend getaway, a picnic or a traditional braai surrounded by nature. Whether you are travelling solo, with family or with friends, enjoy fresh air, open spaces and memorable moments under the stars.
Canvas Tents & Camping Facilities
Enjoy the best of outdoor living with our under-roofed 3 x 3 metre Chopper Canvas tents, equipped with beds for added comfort and shelter. Simply bring your own bedding and settle in for a unique camping experience without the hassle of pitching your own tent. Guests are also welcome to bring their own tents and enjoy our beautiful farm surroundings. Facilities include secure parking, clean communal bathrooms with showers, shared kitchen facilities, a communal garden and braai areas, with separate braai drums available for outdoor cooking.
Rustic Stables & Farm Swimming Dam
Experience authentic farm living in our charming converted stables, featuring stable doors, soft carpeting, bunk or double beds and solar lighting for a cosy, rustic atmosphere. The rooms have no electricity, offering a peaceful, unplugged escape. Guests can use the shared kitchen area equipped with a fridge, kettle and basin, and are encouraged to bring their own cooking equipment. Communal bathrooms and showers are approximately 40 metres away. Camping and stables guests can also enjoy access to the communal farm reservoir for a refreshing swim and relaxing time with family and friends. At Schaftplaas, nature, simplicity and warm farm hospitality come together for a memorable West Coast getaway.

Our American-style barn features a spacious covered area, dance floor, cash bar and lounge area, with catering available. The venue can accommodate between 50 and 200 guests, making it suitable for both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations.
