Travel Information for Visiting the Resort

If you're looking to visit the resort, it's approximately 485km north of Maputo. The majority of roads have been recently upgraded and align with South African standards. For the most part, a normal Sedan will suffice until you reach the last 4 km of the 26 km red sand road, where a 4x4 vehicle is necessary. If you don't have a 4x4 vehicle, don't worry! Safe enclosed parking and 4x4 transport can be arranged for visitors without one. Alternatively, guests may choose to fly directly from Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo) to Inhambane via LAM (www.flylam.co.za). We'd be happy to help organize transportation to Pleasure Bay. SCUBA DIVING

Experience the Best of Underwater Beauty at these Top Rated Spots on the African East Coast

  • Lighthouse Reef: This renowned reef offers a magnificent bay for snorkeling. With several other world-class reefs nearby, visitors can witness the best of underwater beauty. The coral garden inside Lighthouse Reef, located in 2-3 meters of water, is one of the finest snorkeling spots in Africa. On a clear day, visibility can extend up to 41 meters, providing an opportunity to view thousands of tropical species suitable for the entire family.
  • Jangamo Reef: This reef is one of the top places globally to encounter the majestic whale sharks, making it an incredible opportunity for whale shark diving. Divers can freely dive amongst these amazing gentle giants without needing a CMAS or other dive qualifications. Whale sharks and the occasional Humpback Whale can be spotted all year round, with Mozambique's summer months (September - February) being the best time to see them. However, please note that February is known for Cyclones, which can significantly reduce visibility.
  • Diving with Whale Sharks: Divers must follow strict rules regarding diving with Whale Sharks, including how close they can approach these animals and whether they are allowed to touch them. While Whale Sharks are generally harmless, it's important to remember that they are still powerful sharks and should be respected.
  • Bottlenose Dolphins: These playful dolphins are the most commonly sighted species found along the African East Coast. They often surf the bow waves of diving boats, providing visitors with a chance to swim amongst them, depending on their mood.
  • Manta Reef: This world-famous reef is known for its two Manta cleaning stations, discovered by Carlos do Rocha in the 1960s. Marine biologists, cameramen, and divers from around the world are attracted to this site. The visibility here generally ranges between 10 and 30 meters, with an average of 20 meters. The water temperature in the Indian Ocean typically varies from 23 to 29 'C. All dive sites feature an abundance of coral and are reef dives.
