How to get to Paindane...

Experience Rustic Living by the Beach

Stay in our self-catering chalets and campsites located on the dunes just a few steps away from the beach. In addition, you can rent our traditional baraccas on selected campsites. These cool shelters offer modern clean ablutions, electrical plug points, and water facilities.

The outstanding element of Paindane is the reef which protrudes north approximately 800 meters parallel to the beach, which forms a natural bay which is protected from the destruction of powerful ocean currents and waves. This bay is ideal for the launching boats as well as bathing and snorkeling.

Paindane bay is home to a coral garden, acclaimed to be one of the best on the African coast. The variety of soft and hard coral boast an array of colours that must be seen to be believed.

The abundance of hundreds of species of tropical fish that adorn this coral reef makes Paindane unique, and a must for all snorklers and divers. The natural bay is an ideal playground for all watersport enthusiasts.

Deep sea, rock, surf and fly fishing off the Paindane reef is unrivalled on the east coast of Africa. An abundance of Kingfish, Cuta, Natal Snoek, Wahoo, Dorado, Queenfish, Tuna and many other pelagic species roam the reef. Billfish are also in abundance.

Sailfish and Marlin are regularly caught by those who target them. No serious angler should miss the opportunity to fish this paradise.

THINGS TO DO

Fishing

Paindane is a paradise for all deep-sea anglers with unrivalled catches of gamefish and billfish with the ideal fishing area only 300 meters from the launch. Pinnacles with shoals of monster kings, Cuta, Tuna and all the other Pelagic species are waiting for you.

Rock & Surf

This facet brings you the best of both worlds. Land a 20Kg Cuta or King from the Lighthouse reef at spring low tide, cast into 20 meters of deep blue water where anything can happen... or take a drive on the beach and choose a spot for yourself that will produce big Kings, Queens, Pompano and Bonefish on light tackle.

Snorkeling

The Paindane Reef offers the best snorkelling sites in Mozambique...

With many world-renowned reefs within easy striking distance, Paindane rates as one of the best dive spots on the African East Coast. Manta Reef is unique and has been rated as the best worldwide, with excellent visibility and virtually hundreds of mantas that have made this reef their home.

The coral garden lies inside the Paindane reef in 2 - 3 meters of water and is rated by Mike Slater (Guide to Mozambique) as one of the very best snorkelling spots of the African East Coast. On a good day, visibility extends to as much as forty meters, with thousands of tropical species to be viewed by the entire family.

Jetski, Hobbycat, Paddleski and boardsailing enthusiasts enjoy the safe launch at Paindane and the fact that you sail directly into the backline and deep waters of the Mozambique Channel, without any surf to contend with.

For those who are not into water activities, long walks along the pristine sun-bleached beaches, shell hunting, swimming in the warm tropical waters, tanning in the basking sun, or sipping an ice-cold beer in the beach bar can all be enjoyed.
