About us
A youthful dream came true
The swiss architect from Chur, Thomas Domenig Senior has fulfilled his one youth dream with the creation of a wildlife reserve and Lodge in Namibia, a place for a unique and beautiful encounter between human and animal.
In 1994, after a long search through half Africa, he had acquired this 39 square kilometer land.
In 1995 the Omaruru Game Lodge started its operations and is by now well known and loved for their animals, great atmosphere and environment, great food and friendly employees.
Top crew
Carien and Kobi are managing the Omaruru Game Lodge over the past 15 years with lots of effort and heart blut. The Omaruru Game Lodge team consists of loyal and hardworking employees, from game drivers, to waitress, gardeners to the laundry ladies. The lodge would not be the same without them. We are very happy to have established a loyal customer base and for every new client giving the Omaruru Game Lodge a shot.

How to reach us?
By plane
From Windhoek International Airport (Hosea Kutako) or from national Airport (Eros) the Lodge can easily be reached by plane in 45 respective 35 minutes.
The lodge has a tar runway of 1.25 km with heat insulated hangars. The lodge also offers transfer flights from and to the Airport with the own twin engine plane ”Piper Navajo” taking 5-6 passengers. The plane can be chartered for individual excursions as well.

The Omaruru Game Lodge is located in the center of Namibia, 242 km from Windhoek and is reachable within a 3-hour car drive.

Bungalows
The guest bungalows are situated around a big waterhole in the shadow of the large palm and sycamore trees. Each bungalow has its own patio. From there one can watch the scenery of African wildlife and submerge in the ambiance of the lodge or simply enjoy a refreshing bath in the pool.
The lodge offers 13 comfortable bungalows with a total of 44 beds. All bungalows are equipped with grass roofs and are kept in the muted colors of the landscape.
We provide our guests two types of bungalows Superior und Standard. All rooms are equipped with shower, toilet, air condition, refrigerator, mosquito protection as well as comfortable beds.

Lodge’s Waterhole
A highlight of the Omaruru Game Lodge is the every evening’s wildlife spectacle directly in front of the restaurant terrace / restaurant patio, when various wild animals gather around the feeding places. It is a unique and unforgettable view of the wildlife around the waterhole. Surrounded by giraffes, zebras, rhinos, eland, gnus and so on the terrace is the ideal place to finish a day with a sundowner. After dawn the area of the waterhole is illuminated so that visitors will be able to watch the game during dinner.
Safari Park
The game park is unique in Namibia. It has one of the highest wildlife stock, inhabited by most of all Namibian species. With a high likelihood visitors will experience breathtaking moments with the Namibian wildlife. The game park area of the lodge stretches out over 3’400 hectares. The Omaruru Game Lodge is located in the southern part of the game park.
Game Drive
We offer daily safari tours in the morning and in the afternoon, our off-road vehicles are equipped with sunshade roofs, on which the African wild- and rich bird life can be explored.
You will likely be able to spot a great variety of wildlife species, such as white rhino, elephant, hippopotamus, giraffe, oryx, kudu, waterbuck, mountain as well as common zebra, eland, blesbuck, ostrich, sprinbock, blue and black wildebeest, common and endangered black nose impala, warthog, steenbok, damara dik dik, chacma baboon and many types of birds.

Nestled in a green oasis, the grass roofs bungalows are grouped around the large water place / waterhole under shady palm trees and welcome the guest in the middle of the African wildlife of the Omaruru Game Lodge. Each Bungalow offers its own veranda from which the visitors can observe the animals and immerse themselves into the unique atmosphere of the Omaruru Game Lodge or relax by the pool.
Giraffe
We have a popular animal called Sammy, our tame Giraffe that enjoys the visitors' attention. He will make your time at Omaruru extra special.
Restaurant
The lodge is known for its exquisite cuisine and the unique ambiance of the restaurant and the restaurant patio, from which the wildlife can be observed.
We love to spoil you with a four course candle light dinner or with our lunch “a la carte Menu”. On request we offer lunch packages.
Conference Room
The Omaruru Game Lodge is a great place for team building events, meetings or conferences. Where can your mind be more creative or collaborate better than in the great atmosphere of the Omaruru Game Lodge?
The lodge offers a conference bungalow for 25-30 people fully equipped with presentation and communication tools.
