Our Story & Legacy
Nama-Qua Game Reserve is rooted in the Van Zyl family’s generations-long connection to the land of the Vredendal and West Coast regions. Built on a strong heritage of farming, rural enterprise and respect for nature, the reserve is the vision of Erik van Zyl, who is developing the family farm into a space dedicated to wildlife, natural habitats, conservation and eco-tourism. Starting with 500 hectares, Nama-Qua Game Reserve represents a new chapter for this historic family property while continuing to honour its connection to the land.
Comfortable Accommodation
After a day of exploring, relax in accommodation surrounded by peaceful natural scenery. Our options include the Nama Hut, Camping Hut and spacious campsites, offering different ways to experience the reserve. Guests can enjoy comfortable facilities, private outdoor areas and beautiful surroundings where you can relax and reconnect with nature.
Camping Adventures
For those who love the outdoors, our campsites offer a wonderful opportunity to experience the simplicity and excitement of camping.
Each campsite can accommodate up to 6 adults and 4 children and features:
- Shaded areas with wind protection
- Private fireplace and braai area
- Water connection
- Electricity point
- Access to shared ablution facilities
- Showers and toilets
It is the perfect setting for families and nature enthusiasts looking to spend quality time outdoors.
Nama Hut
The Nama Hut accommodates up to 2 adults and 2 children, with a double bed and a child-only bed. The hut includes a kitchenette with crockery, cutlery and tea- and coffee-making facilities, as well as a bathroom and furnished patio with a private braai area. Situated beside a small waterhole, the hut provides a peaceful setting for relaxing and watching nature.
Camping Hut
The Camping Hut accommodates up to four guests and offers a bathroom with shower and separate toilet. Guests can enjoy their own braai area, washing-up station and electricity point, making it a comfortable option for those wanting to combine the camping experience with additional convenience.
Wildlife & Nature
At Nama-Qua, nature is all around you.
The reserve's natural vegetation provides a peaceful environment where guests can enjoy the communal swimming pool, lapa and watering dam while observing wildlife such as springbok, blue wildebeest, zebras and a variety of birdlife. The surrounding indigenous flora and diverse insects add to the experience, making every visit an opportunity to discover something new.
