At Maru Djembe you are camping in style. You are nestled within the serene embrace of the bush.

Our intimate campsite offers a unique camping experience with just 10 exclusive campsites in a private nature reserve.
Conveniently located, we are just 58km from Phalaborwa Kruger gate and 48km from Orpen Kruger gate.

Plus with no gate times and only a 1.5km drive on a dirt road to the campsite you are free to come and go as you please, ensuring you a truly unrestricted bush experience.
We have an abundance of self-drive activities to explore around Hoedspruit.

Here at Maru Djembe we are making use of a unique self check-in system.

So there is no need for you to feel rushed in anyway.

Early or late, this system will ensure that no camper will ever be stranded along side a road at any time of the day or night.

Maru Djembe is the ideal camping destination for any wild life enthusiast.

At the campsite you will meet a variety of game and bird species.

The property is fenced but not the campsite, so here are regular visits of blue wildebeest, giraffes, sabels and many more.

Each campsite is a haven of tranquility, featuring it's own water supply and an adjustable grid braai area, and most boast a lush private grass patch.

There are no electricity points but more than enough space for your solar panels and equipment. The camp has solar lights at night time.

Escape the heat with a dip in our dam-style swimming pool, a delightful respite during the warm Hoedspruit days.

For those seeking a blend of adventure and bonding, our 5km walking trail is perfect for families, welcoming children of all ages to explore the natural beauty around.

Embrace a pet-friendly holiday, as we warmly invite your furry companions to enjoy the wonders of the bush alongside you. They'll relish the the bush walks and the vibrant surroundings.

Our recent addition, an outdoor communal kitchen, elevates your camping experience.

It's well equipped with chest freezers and fridges, comfortable 6-seater picnic benches, a washbasin, ample cupboard space and a 3-burner gas cooker, ensuring convenience and a touch of home.

Experience modern comforts in the wild with our stylish family friendly ablutions.

The showers, heated by gas geyser's, provide a warm, rejuvenating experience after a full day of exploring.

Things to know


You can drink the water out of the taps 
Self check-in.  
Instructions for self check-in is on the information wall in camp and will be e-mailed to you
It's safe in camp with no criminal activities ever

Animals do roam freely in camp.  Do not approach any animals   
 
Emergency numbers are on the information wall in the campsite.  


 
It can get windy in the bushveld so bring extra straps and ground pens 
Pak your Hat, torch, hammock, bug spray and sunscreen
No electricity in camp but we do have freezing and refrigerator facilities 

 


Malaria Info


Hoedspruit falls under low risk area for malaria.  

You still need to take precaution and use peace full sleep spray at night.  

Malaria risk is present throughout the year, but highest from September to May.  

In winter the risk is at its lowest from May to August.  

If you think you may have malaria, contact a doctor soon as possible.  

You can also buy a self test malaria kit from our local pharmacies in Hoedspruit.
