Your Bushveld Holiday Destination

WELCOME TO

Maqueda Lodge

Maqueda Lodge is a small family-owned boutique lodge situated in Marloth Park – so close to the world-famous Kruger National Park that our guests frequently hear lions and other animals calling – especially at night. Our location means that the closest entrance to Kruger is a short 15 minutes’ drive from the lodge. In addition, we are also ideally situated to enjoy day tours of the fascinating country of Swaziland as well as the famous Blyde River Canyon – part of the beautiful Panorama Route.

Maqueda Lodge is surrounded by the natural beauty of the African bush. Often, we have non-human visitors to the lodge such as giraffe and zebra as Marloth Park is an area containing the general game. Our bird life is fascinating and abundant around the lodge itself. This means that for those guests that would like some exercise it is possible to walk unaccompanied to the Kruger fence line where you may see a variety of animals within Kruger come down to the Crocodile River. The observation point is a mere 15 minutes' walk from the lodge where you can sit and relax or continue walking for as long as you want to!

With only 12 rooms we pride ourselves on a personal and relaxed atmosphere for our guests. We are very fortunate that a significant number of our guests return repeatedly and become more like family members.

Our Accommodation

Our welcome is genuine, and we will make your South African trip one that you will never forget – for the best possible reasons!

Maqueda Lodge has 12 double rooms all of which are en suite.

Four of the rooms have queen sized beds and the others are twin bedded. We have a spacious lounge area where our guests can choose to relax either in the company of fellow travellers or in more secluded areas should they prefer more privacy.

We have a small plunge pool where our guests can relax with a refreshing drink.

Our common areas and bedrooms are furnished in a tasteful fusion of the old colonial style with a modern twist. Our breakfast area is situated on an elevated section of our open lounge area overloong the natural beauty of the bush surrounding the lodge.

The public areas are available for all of our guests to relax and use at their leisure. The small plunge pool is very popular on hot afternoons after game drives where you can cool down with a refreshing drink whilst discussing the day’s events with other guests.

We have a small souvenir shop which contains a mixture of stock from local suppliers including items made solely for Maqueda and other times supporting the efforts of small-scale producers.
