Fauna and Flora

Fauna: Encounter species like the Cape Red Duiker, Grey Duiker, Bushbuck, Porcupine, Warthogs, and five out of the seven known Kingfishers.

Flora: Discover the Marula, Brown Ivory, Zebrabark Corkwood, White Thorn, Impala Lily, along with numerous indigenous cycads.

A Bit of History...

Join us in reliving the charm of bygone eras. At LittleBush Private Lodge, we pride ourselves on our excellent hospitality and commitment to our roots.

We uphold the true values of the past, focusing on land conservation, organic farming for self-sufficiency, and support for local activities and businesses. We guarantee a unique experience!

1937

In 1937, our grandfather, Broer Mare, acquired the farm where our lodge now stands. At that time, it was a wild expanse filled with lions and various antelope and smaller fauna.

Kampersrus

Our grandfather transformed this farm into the first township, naming it “Kampersrus” in honor of Louis Trichardt’s trek, where they camped on their journey from Schoemansdal to Lourenco Marques on February 23, 1838.

Sonstraal

Our grandmother, Langie Maré, an educated teacher, recognized the need for a school and founded the small “Sonstrale” school, which has now evolved into Mariepskop Primary School. By 1940, the school proudly had five students.

Wilderness

We pay tribute to these pioneers and others who contributed to bringing civilization to this region. Today, the spirit of the wild remains alive in every plant and animal that graces this beautiful locale—only revealed after dusk.

Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre

Spend a day visiting the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, home to injured, abandoned, and poisoned wildlife.

You may encounter lions, cheetahs, servals, honey badgers, eagles, hyenas, leopards, vultures, and many baby animals.

  • Duration: Half Day Tour
  • Departure: 8:00 AM from the lodge

Abseiling – Blyde Dam

Experience an exhilarating abseil down a cliff at Blyde Dam (formerly Swadini Dam) while enjoying stunning views of the dam, river overflow, and diverse birdlife.

This fun and safe activity involves walking backward down the cliff while securely attached with climbing ropes.
