A BIT OF HISTORY...

We invite you to join us in reliving some of the aura of those long ago times. Here, you will experience excellent hospitality. LittleBush Private Lodge is not only committed to the roots of its past, but also to maintaining true values of the past, such as conservation of the land, employed of organic farming for self sufficiency, as well as support of local activities and businesses. We promise you a rare experience!

1937

When the old monarch, our grandfather Broer Mare, bought the farm on which our lodge is situated, during 1937, it was truly a wild place. Lions roamed the farm and many species of antelope and other smaller species of fauna were in abundance.

KAMPERSRUS

When our Grandfather developed the first township on this farm with about 290 stands, he named it “Kampersrus”, in memory of Louis Trichardt’s trek who out spanned there on their way from Schoemansdal to Lourenco Marques, on the 23rd of February 1838.

``SONSTRALE``

His wife, our Grandmother Langie Maré, an educated teacher, saw the need for and started the small “Sonstrale” school, which today, is known as Mariepskop Primary School, during the same year. The school grew and by 1940, the school had a full 5 students.

WILDERNESS

We pay homage to these pioneers, and to the others who joined in the difficult task to bring civilization to this area. Today, the spirit of wildness remains in every plant and animal that still grace this beautiful place – only to be released after nightfall.
