The village boasts an approximate 20KM pristine beachfront and has a real holiday vibe. -just 30km north of Maputo city in Southern Mozambique. Visitors can arrive by road or air. By road- travel safely & conveniently eastbound on the N4 highway right into Macaneta village, from the JHB /Pretoria areas South Africa. Macaneta is approx. 7 hours relaxed drive and no 4x4 is required to reach the village. Jhb to Maputo city by air is an approx. 40 minutes flight. The village has many beach & social spots, as well & well stocked pubs, curios, acuities and tourist goodies to do.

About LAKKA LODGE & Excursions

To get to LAKKA LODGE from Marracuene, the district Capital & bigger village on the N4 Highway in Mozambique, just north of Maputo, watch for tourist sign saying MACANETA on the left in the middle of the village, where one must turn right, follow your GPS down over the Nkomati River, tollgate to the Macaneta circle. At the Macaneta village circle, turn south (3/4 circle to your right), drive 2 km on the paved main street - to restaurant TAVERNA MARINA, right on the banks of the same Nkomati river you crossed close the SA/Moz border some 90min prior to arriving. Call us once cleared the border (buy a vodacom sim card, if not yet), so we can prepare your welcoming drink and snack. Chill a few moments whilst we orientate you about the village etc. We will gladly then escort you the quick 3km’s to LAKKA LODGE, where you will receive a warm welcome by our LAKKA LODGE staff. The lodge is set amongst nice big open arborous trees on the north, west and south, fair to good sand road, and only 800m on good hard sand road to the beach and some other lodges, and also the sand road has a good beach access at the 800m T junction.

ALL LAKKA LODGE Excursions depart from & return to & from our offsite restaurant, TAVERNA MARINA, on river, in the main road of Macaneta, for arguably the best food, wines, malts, beverages, sunsets & music in Macaneta.

 LAKKA LODGE IS THE PLACE… & consists of:

On arriving at LAKKA LODGE you will immediately will feel secure and safe with our 2,5m electric security gate, wall and fence all- around. Enter and park in undercover parking area, for the duration of your stay. The staff will quickly help you carry and unpack and guide you through the lovely guest entrance, concrete paving past the main building, patio lounge, bar and braai area and deck chair retreat on pool.

THE UNDERCOVER PARKING & Private GUEST ENTRANCE

You will be guided from TAVERNA MARINA, to the above parking lot. Here you will receive the electric gate code for use during your stay. The friendly efficient staff will help you settle in whisk, to enjoy a nice drink around the pool and patio entertainment area with nice music available.

THE MAIN SUITE

It consists of - large main bedroom nr 5, with a double bed and single bed, a bathroom with a toilet, bath and shower. Further more it has a large living room consisting of very well equipped self-catering kitchen, a 55“ SMART TV, a dining table and 2 single beds. Leading onto the patio verandah, with seat cane and cushion furniture, 18 seater dining area, and under roof charcoal braaiplace. The fully stocked honesty bar and seating, with adjoining fireplace and seating around is under the same roof and cool – all with ceiling fans. All surrounded by a sparkling spotless swimming pool with deck chairs, and a lovely arbores garden as a back drop.

Note - The bar and swimming pool area may be shared with other guests if more than one group is resident at the time. In the bar is a Bluetooth sound system which you can connect to your own music, giving a nice surround effect for all to enjoy. The SC, cooking and braai utensils are well stocked and guests do not have to bring any of these items. Also enough fridge and deepfreezers are placed well for use and access, in the kitchen and on the patio. All the bedrooms are well furnished and styled, full en-suite and air-conditioned, with towels, hanging/clothing cabinets and space, bed mats, fans etc. You will sleep like an angel.

MAIN SUITE BEDROOM

MAIN SUITE TV ROOM AND FULLY EQUIPPED SELF-CATERING KITCHEN - WITH AIR-CONDITIONING AND TWO BEDS.

The air-conditioned, fully equipped kitchen, dining and TV room next to the main bedroom and patio lounge, entering via the main front door, from the pool deck. It also has 2 single beds.

BEDROOMS 1-4

Carry on through the bar where guests will find the rest of the 4 bedrooms on the left. All are serviced, well furnished, smart-ready for you.

ROOMS Nr 1&2 - Each room accommodates 2 x single beds that can made into a double bed (per request), air-conditioned, with an en-suite bathroom consisting of a shower and a toilet. Very cozy and close to the bar and all amenities, as all rooms are.

ROOMS Nr 3&4 - Each room accommodates 1 x double bed, 2 x single beds, air-conditioned, with a full en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet, desk and chair, spacious and smart. Furniture is custom made from indigenous Mozambique hardwood.

Next to room 3 & 4 is another smaller verandah and kitchen and gas braai under thatch.

RESTAURANT & BAR: TAVERNA MARINA

Arguably the best restaurant in MACANETA: TAVERNA MARINA (bar & excursions) - Right on the banks of the Komati River in the paved main road of MACANETA. The cuisine and well-designed layout of our menu will impress, but as the saying goes - "the proof of our dishes are in the eating!!". With perfect Mozambican / Southern African & international travelers selected cuisine, TAVERNA MARINA is more than just a dining destination; it’s thee smart social hub in MACANETA, an embarking and disembarking point for all our boat and beach excursions. (See end of document.) Safe parking is available on entry, right next to the entrance.

TAVERNA MARINA is located next to the MACANETA Boat Club and serves as the restaurant and bar for the boat club. Come, launch and park your own boat/trailer form here for a small fee, with security and gillie assistance. (The only registered slipway in Macaneta). Or even better - just relax and book one of our famous sole rewarding river, sea or beach cruises – to cherish your visit at Macaneta – complete! After this experience you can truly claim - "I know and enjoyed MACANETA!"

Right next to the restaurant is a 50 seater conference room - on river. It is ideal to for day conferencing, with the restaurant and boating or beach activities only 3M to walk to be onboard on one of our boats, ready for you, with a competent and well informed skipper to take care of you all the way. Overnight packages are also offered. The conference room is equipped, smart and air-conditioned. We also host, weddings, parties and various workshops here.

LAKKA LODGE Excursions - River, Sea, and Beach!

INTRODUCTION

The excursions are very popular, must be pre-booked with min 50% non-refundable deposit and conducted professionally with skipper/guides to keep you well informed all the way and take care of your safety, enjoyment and assist in any possible way. All accessories required for the excursion are provided and no need to bring any own commodities, except for items like towels, sunset cream etc. Indemnities will be signed prior to departure.

Note- A FREE cooler box and ice will be provided at Taverna Marina bar, to stock up for your excursion from our bar. The arranged food basket will be ready as well, prior to boarding.

On enquiry we will allocate the best boat and deal for your required excursion according to the size of your group, excursion expectations and requirements.

We do 4 types of excursions:

• On the beach with our permit issued  4x4’s
• By boat on the Nkomati river
• By boat for deep sea fishing
• Inhaca island tourists type trips and pristine snorkeling at Santa Maria snorkeling reef

The boats in use are: 

• The 2 barges, respectively 15 and 25 passengers for the river cruises
• 22 ft ski boat and 21 ft watersport speedboat for river cruises and water fun
• 22ft ski boat for Inhaca, snorkeling and fishing 

Note:

All boats/excursions have a minimin price due to nature of the activity. Usually the minimum price includes up to 6 passengers, then an additional price for more people. 

THE EXCURSIONS

Our play ground is the Maputo bay, Inhaca island, Macaneta beach front and the Nkomati river.

THE NKOMATI RIVER: 

All excursions are approx 90 min long, except pansy bay is 4 hours. We offer general river scenery, Panzy bay, birding, and the immortal sunset cruise for you to enjoy with us. Prices from R325 PP. THE MAPUTO BAY/OCEAN: 

We leave early morning by boat and return mid/late afternoon, to go to Inhaca, superb snorkeling at Santa Maria snorkel reserve or deep-sea fishing.

THE MACANETA BEACH 4X4 excursions:

We leave according to the low tide, usually mid-morning. The excursion lasts 3,5- 4 hours. For the Beach excursions – we have the permits. Guests travel with our equipped 4x4 vehicles direct on the beach to Pansy bay for the perfect family and friends braai on the beach all is catered and provided for. Just hop on and immediately start to enjoy this nice fun in the sun excursion, overlooking Inhaca island, Maputo bay and collect your panzy shells from the beach. The staff will braai whilst you swim, relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and holiday at it's best!

RIVER CRUISES

Relaxed, fun and sunset cruises. We do them all for your pleasure with the best staff to inform and guide you along all the way.

Sunset River Cruises

Our favorite excursion is the lovely sunset over the Komati River, a river excursion.

Beach Excursions

Very popular also is the fully catered beach excursion, which takes 3.5 to 4 hours, where we go right up to Pansy Bay, drive 8km on the beach to the beachfront, all is catered for and braaied for - you just hop right on for your enjoyment!

Deep Sea Fishing

The launch is from the beach as will be indicated. Trips leave 06:00 in morning and return about 13:00. All is provided. We know the sea & fishing spots.
