Your home away from home, with nature right at your doorstep.

Welcome To Ikigai@4617 Marloth Park

Ikigai (ee-key-guy) is a Japanese concept that combines the terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.”

When combined, these terms mean that which gives your life worth, meaning, or purpose.

Ken Mogi, a neuroscientist and author of Awakening Your Ikigai (2018, p. 3), says that Ikigai is an ancient and familiar concept for the Japanese, which can be translated simply as “a reason to get up in the morning” or, more poetically, “waking up to joy.”

Ikigai@4617 invites you to find your reason to get up in the morning – to find your Ikigai.

We are located in Marloth Park, a wildlife sanctuary situated on the southern tip of the Kruger National Park.

The Crocodile River separates Marloth Park and the Kruger National Park.

Wildlife such as kudu, zebra, giraffe, blue wildebeest, baboon, bushbuck, vervet monkeys, nyala, impala, warthog and ostrich roam freely among the houses.

Occasionally you have the elusive leopard and lion paying a visit from across the river.

Elephants can often be seen splashing about in the river as one takes a walk or cycles along the Crocodile River.

The Crocodile Bridge gate to the Kruger National Park is a short 20-minute drive away.

Listen to the roar of a lion and the singing of the birds while you relax in the pool or in the Boma after a day at the Kruger National Park.
