Greystone Lodge Dullstroom

At Greystone Lodge near Dullstroom, we have 9 individually fenced, pet-friendly/safe, self-catering chalets. 

We are predominantly a pet-friendly lodge providing a unique experience for you and your furbabies.

All sizes and breeds of dogs are welcome! We do not limit the quantity either.

The lodge is easily accessible with any standard clearance vehicle from Dullstroom & Belfast using the Machadodorp gravel road from the R540.

Each chalet has its own fenced private garden (with 1.2m high diamond-mesh fence). 
Two chalets have fence extensions (2m) for large dogs like Great Danes or jumpy dogs and fence-climber escape artists.

No chalet shares a fence with another chalet. 

The units are all spaced apart from each other and are private.

A fire-place is the central feature of each chalet’s lounge and definitely sought after for our chilly winter evenings.

Your chalet is stocked with a complimentary supply of wood and the fireplace is setup ready to go, just strike that match!

Additional loads are R150 each. 

ALL DOG BREEDS WELCOME AT GREYSTONE LODGE

• Dogs are R200 each once off charge however Rescues, Therapy and Service dogs stay for free.
• Please ensure your pets vaccinations are up to date before you bring them to Greystone Lodge. 
• The closest VET is in Lydenburg.  
• There are 3 options.  
• Sterkspruit Vet is our recommendation.  
• It is about 1 hour from the lodge.
• Your dog may be off-leash inside your chalet’s fenced area. 
• Dogs may NOT be left unattended at/in chalets – NO EXCEPTION.
• If you need a pet-sitter, we can provide one at R200/hour. 
• Max 4 hours. Please book in advance.
• Only available between 9am to 5pm (also depending on our workload, peak season might not be possible).
• ALL Dogs MUST BE ON LEASH around the chalet’s walkways – NO EXCEPTION.
• We have had incidents where socialised dogs have been off-leash around the chalets and have approached unsocial dogs behind fences, you can just imagine what happened. 
• Please protect your dogs and keep them on leash around the chalet areas.
• Bring your dog’s secure leash or harness. 
• Choke-chains are not adequate.
• We understand that dogs bark as they also need to talk to us, but please shush your dogs if they bark continuously, it is very irritating to everyone around you. 
• If your dog is social and has good recall, you are welcome to take them off-leash when away from the chalets. 
• Please ensure you are not near The Cottage, the last unit by the dam when you let them off lead.
• If you have an unsocial/aggressive dog, please keep him/her on lead always and use the Yellow Bandana provided.
• We have implemented an “I Need Space” notification system.  
• If your dog is unsocial, aggressive, in training or nervous, please tie the bright yellow bandana provided onto your dog’s harness or leash to visibly warn other guests.
• You and your pets may swim in the dam.  
• If you need old towels for them, please ask us, we have loads.
• We do have Blesbok on the property, if your dog is off-leash in the open fields, they will probably attempt to chase the Blesbok. 
• Please don’t allow this to become a regular game for them.
• Once off isn’t an issue as the Blesbok will runaway to a safe distance but regular chasing will result in the Blesbok getting stressed and injuries could occur.
• If your dog runs off after a bunny or buck and you can’t find your dog, please check your chalet, please don’t panic, the dogs usually go back to the chalet.
• Should your dog be off-leash and attack another pet on-leash, you will be responsible for any vet costs incurred. 
• Please be vigilant.
• For obvious reasons, no females on heat EVER. Please fix your dogs, the animal shelters are full with all types of breeds waiting for adoption.
• No unneutered male cats allowed at the lodge as they mark their territory. 
• Please fix your cats, the animal shelters are full of millions of cats waiting for adoption.
• We do not have a lot of ticks in the area but they do occur.  
• Please treat your pets for ticks before and after you’ve been to the lodge.  
• You are welcome to use Julian’s Jacuzzi, our onsite Doggy wash bay located next to the Library.
• Perfect for after long walks or swimming in the dam.  
• Shampoo and towels provided free of charge.  
• Please ask us for these.
• Please don’t throw your dogs remaining kibble into the grass before you leave.  
• The next visiting doggy may have strict dietary requirements and it’s difficult for our staff to pick up kibble in the grass.
• Please ensure you have treated your pet for fleas before you come to Greystone Lodge.  
• We do not have a flea problem.
• Please be so kind as to pick up your dog’s poop when walking around the dam.  
• You do not have to worry about poop in the open fields.
• Snakes occasionally occur here; Rinkhals and Puff Adders are most venomous. 
• We do not keep Anti-venom at the lodge for various reasons such as Anti-venom is very expensive, has a shelf life and you need to identify the snake before you can administer anti-venom.  
• Sterkspruit Vet stocks anti-venom.
• We have a pet’s First Aid kit. Please contact us should your furball require First Aid.
• You bring your pets at your own risk. Greystone Lodge is not responsible for any parasites or illnesses your pet may pick up, or any injuries they may get, while on our property.

Large Groups Accommodation

• Greystone Lodge can accommodate groups as follows:
• 46 people in total (Couples sharing beds and others sharing rooms)
• 34 singles sharing (Some sharing rooms with twin singles – no bed sharing)
• 18 singles (No sharing rooms)
• Please use this Excel Spreadsheet to allocate beds.

Catering

• Greystone Lodge has a large kitchen which we offer to guests to use as a group or if you prefer we are able to cater for large group events.
• Perfect for Group Getaways, Birthday Parties, Weddings, Family Holidays, Corporate Strategy Sessions, Team Buildings or Board Meetings.
• We have a fully licensed bar which we can stock for your function.
•  No other alcohol can be brought to the function area if the bar is utilised.
•  Please discuss your bar options with us, we are very flexible.
