Emerald Cottage
Emerald Cottage is a self catering accommodation facility. Conveniently situated in Cannonville, a safe and tranquil village on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River, only 35km East of Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay, on the N2 in the Greater Addo area. Located only 3km from new South gate entrance also known as CAMP MATYHOLWENI, to the Addo Elephant National Park and a short walk around the corner to The Sundays River.
Never have the Elephants of the Addo Elephant National Park been so close to visit when staying at this jewel - Emerald Cottage. Since the extension of the park in 2010 and the opening of the Addo South Gate near Colchester on the National Freeway N2 , where the Cottage is located, herds of Elephants and other animals have migrated to the Southern part of the Park.
Emerald Cottage is well placed to all major Eastern Cape Game Reserves.

We (Maggie & Les) moved to Cannonville in January 2006 and are ecstatic to have found this little jewel on the golden banks of the Sundays River.
With a dream come true, Les also committed himself to establish a ferry cruiser on the river and on the 14th April 2007 THE SUNDAYS RIVER FERRY was launched. Come and enjoy a leisurely cruise both up or down stream to the river mouth. Enjoy the spectacular views, river, sea and dunes.

Accommodation at Emerald Cottage
We offer Self-catering accommodation in a fully equipped 2 bedroomed cottage. We can supply muesli, yoghurt and a croissant at an additional cost per person per day. Coffee, tea, rusks already supplied.
Emerald Self Catering Cottage
The Self Catering Cottage is very comfortable and cosy. Lounge/diningroom/fully equipped kitchenette with undercover braai/bbq area on stoep/verandah. WiFi and OVHD TV available. Secure Private parking behind electronic gate. Also equipped with a security alarm. The verandah/BBQ area is a lovely space to relax with easy access between the rooms.
The Cottage is very convenient and comfortable, ideal for family visits.
Main Bedroom
The main bedroom/family room features queen bed plus single bed (with pull out for extra single) with lovely big bathroom/shower en suite.
Second Room
2nd bedroom with double bed.
En suite shower/toilet facilities.
Things to Do
Explore the Sundays River Estuary while enjoying a cruise on the ADDO CRUISES/SUNDAYS RIVER FERRY or swim in a safe lagoon at the river mouth, where the Ferry will moor for a relaxing time, after climbing the wonderful dunes with the most exquisite views of the sea, islands, sand dunes and Port Elizabeth on the horizon. For the more adventurous book a sand sledding cruise. Or relax at the Cottage with a glass of wine. A rich variety of bird life can be observed and the river boasts a number of estuarine fish species. Wonder through the bonsai garden with exceptional trees on view for the bonsai enthusiasts.
Enjoy the tranquility of this safe village, nestled along the majestic Sundays River Estuary with the world renowned Alexandria/Colchester dunefields on its banks, which is the largest dune field in the Southern Hemisphere and the second largest in the world.
