Nestled in the heart of the Biggarsberg mountain range, Thatcher's Rest is a secluded self-catering cottage that offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Situated on a working farm, this enchanting thatched cottage is surrounded by serene splendor and breathtaking vistas.
Accommodation
Three Bedrooms:
The cottage boasts three exquisitely furnished bedrooms, each with its own unique character. The main bedroom, situated on the upper level, has its own private balcony with stunning views of the dam and surrounding farmland.
The Bass Bedroom, also on the upper level, has twin beds and a bath, basin, and toilet. The Aloe Bedroom, located on the ground floor, has twin beds which can be joined to form a double bed.
The Main Bedroom
The main bedroom, situated on the upper level has its own private balcony with views across the dam and surrounding farmland. It has a queen bed with shower, basin and toilet.
The Bass Bedroom
The second bedroom is also situated on the upper level with views of the surrounding mountains. It has twin beds and a bath, basin and toilet.
The Aloe Bedroom
The third bedroom is on the ground floor with views of the mountains and offers an amazing feeling of floating on water. It has twin beds which can be joined to form a double bed. It is not en-suite but has a bathroom with shower, basin and toilet situated directly next to it.
Mezzanine
There is a single bed situated on the mezzanine level, suitable for a child or teenager.

- Fireplace: Snuggle up by the crackling fireplace in the lounge on chilly winter evenings.

- Outdoor Gas Braai: Cook up a storm on the large Weber braai.
- Parking: Covered parking for 2 cars is available.
- Boat: There is a bass boat with oars for your fishing outing.

Getting Here
From Ladysmith: Travel along the N11 towards Newcastle for approximately 40km, take the 2nd Collingpass turnoff, and turn left onto a gravel road.
From Newcastle: Take the N11 towards Ladysmith for approximately 60km, take the 1st Collingpass gravel road turnoff on your right-hand side.
House Rules
- No Pets: Strictly no pets allowed.
- No Smoking: No smoking inside the cottage.
- Fishing: Fishing is on a catch & release basis. Trout will cost R90/kg if you would like to keep them.
